FOR SUPER EVENLY PEPPERED EVERYTHING
K. Kalustyan opened his first store in New York City in 1944 with the intention of serving Manhattan’s growing global culinary community and later, Martha Stewart, who produced a very soothingly narrated segment about Kalustyan’s Lexington Avenue store for her popular television show.
Kalustyan’s is famous for importing hard to find spices from all over the world— they’re a favourite one-stop shop for NYC chefs (incl. Martha) who are looking for inspiration. About 40 percent of a black peppercorn's flavour and aroma is contained in its outer black shell; when it’s cracked, these qualities quickly dissipate, this extra-fine black pepper is expertly, thoroughly and evenly ground to a specification of 60 mesh, which is perfect for a flawless distribution of pungent, biting flavour.
Great for spicy salad dressings and Martha’s Chocolate-Black Pepper Cookies (Yum!). It’s a good thing.
