A CLASSIC TUSCAN OLIVE OIL
Photographs of Giorgio Franci, the producer of this award-winning oil, show him standing in an olive grove, forehead creased in a sunny underlook like a Tuscan Luke Perry. All that intensity seems to have been poured into the making of Franci’s exceptional oils, which are pressed from hand-harvested olives in the silvery hills of Tuscany’s Val D’Orcia.
The Frantoio Franci estate has been family owned since 1958, and exemplary of its sister Tuscan oils, this one is fresh and aromatic, with a green-y gold colour.
A mono-cultivar made from Olivastra Seggianese olives, this distinctive oil is medium-bodied with notes of ripe banana, artichoke and a slight herbaceousness. It takes salad dressings from ordinary to unmatched and works wonders as a finishing oil for raw vegetables. Since both Brenda and Kelly will be blown away by what you make with this oil, the hard part is going to be choosing which one of them you’re going to invite over to your unsettlingly adult Beverly Hills bungalow.
